Proviron is Schering’s (now Bayer’s) brand name for the oral androgen mesterolone (1-methyl dihydrotestosterone). Similar to dihydrotestosterone, Mesterolone Bayer Schering is a strong androgen with only a weak level of anabolic activity. This is due to the fact that like dihydrotestosterone, mesterolone is rapidly reduced to inactive diol metabolites in muscle tissue where concentrations of the 3-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase enzyme are high.
The belief that the weak anabolic nature of this compound indicates a tendency to block the androgen receptor in muscle tissue, thereby reducing the gains of other more potent muscle-building steroids, should likewise not be taken seriously. In fact, due to its extremely high affinity for plasma binding proteins such as SHBG, Mesterolone Bayer Schering may actually work to potentate the activity of other steroids by displacing a higher percentage into a free, unbound state.
Among athletes, Mesterolone Bayer Schering is primarily used to increase androgen levels when dieting or preparing for a contest, and as an anti-estrogen due to its intrinsic ability to antagonize the aromatase enzyme.
Mesterolone Bayer Schering is a DHT derivative used by AAS bodybuilders to reduce the aromatisation of testosterone and its derivatives. Thus, effectively there will be more free testosterone, which the human body uses to build muscle.
Additionally it has been reported through AAS users to help amplify the effect of a cycle (since it increases the amount of free testosterone). However, in order to substantiate my aforementioned point, Mesterolone Bayer Schering does help to release free testosterone, thus increasing overall free testosterone levels useful for bodybuilding.
In addition, Mesterolone Bayer Schering also helps keep estrogen levels under control in the male body (which means it can be used to compliment your AI (whether it be asin, adex, caber, letro)) - but this compound cannot be used for PCT.
At a dosage of 50 mgs a day, Mesterolone Bayer Schering can lower estrogen into single digits and produce a very polished look to your muscles.
When you’re planning your Mesterolone Bayer Schering use, you will find it stacks well with all anabolic steroids. During the cutting phase it will be most beneficial in conjunction with steroids like Anavar, Masteron and Winstrol as well as Primobolan.
It will greatly promote the androgenicity of these steroids in order to provide and promote the hard look desired. In a bulking phase, while it will stack well with all anabolic steroids it’s hard to say if you’ll need it or not. Some will simply keep it on hand and include it when it proves to be possibly necessarily beneficial.
Because Mesterolone Bayer Schering is primarily an androgen, it does carry with it the risk of androgenic side effects, and they are more pronounced with higher dosages. Proviron’s androgenic side effects include: an increase in oily skin (as a result of increased sebum production/secretion), increased facial hair and bodily hair growth, as well as the increased risk of triggering MPB (Male Pattern Baldness) in those that are genetically sensitive or predisposed to it.
Women are also prone to virilization through the use of Mesterolone Bayer Schering, which is the development of male characteristics in females (i.e. deepening of the voice, facial hair growth, enlargement of the clitoris, etc.). It is also important to note that because Mesterolone Bayer Schering is already a derivative of DHT, products such as Finasteride, Proscar, or Dutasteride will do absolutely nothing to reduce Proviron’s potential androgenic side effects.
Before using Mesterolone Bayer Schering, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.).
